In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.
He made man in his own image. God is eternal and he made man's inner being of eternal substance.
God made Man to be in a Love relationship with Himself forever. Love is what humans crave for; both to give and to receive. God is love.
If you write a song or a book, then you can set the rules about how it is to be used and reproduced. God made Man so he has a right to set these rules for him.
God is pure. He wanted man to stay pure too, by never lying or stealing and by not having sex outside of marriage. He wanted this purity to be more than skin deep. He called lust adultery of the heart and hatred he called murder.
God said there would be a wonderful reward for obedience and a terrible punishment for disobedience. Because Man's inner being is indestructible both the reward and punishment would last forever.
Man was created with a free choice whether to obey God or to live by his own rules.
Man was greedy and impatient, he decided to live for what he could have here and now, not caring what would happen in the future.
Once Man had disobeyed God he was powerless to be pure. If Man went to Heaven with his sin, he would ruin it and it would no longer be perfect. So instead Man faced an everlasting death. After physical death his soul would remain conscious in a place of torment.
Because God is pure he cannot stand sin, it is like a bad odour to him. He broke off the relationship with Man.
Man was physically alive but death had entered into his inner being and his body was dying. It was only a matter of time until he fell into the grave and his soul was lost forever.
Man hated this situation and tried to make things right with God by good works and religious activity.
It was no good, no amount of doing good will make a person pure once they have become impure. Even Man's attempts at good works stank to God. Rather than making things better they made things worse, because Man became proud of his works.
But God was not happy with this situation because he still loved Man. The only way for Man to come back to God was if God made a way. While Man was still in rebellion against God, God reached out to rescue him.
God loved Man so much he sent his own son Jesus into the world.
Jesus was fully man and because he never did anything wrong God the Father could look at him and be pleased. Jesus is the only human who has lived a life worthy of Heaven.
Jesus is also fully God. God is infinite and we cannot understand him, but when he became human we could know his personality. He really is good. Because he is both Man and God he is able to represent Man to God and God to Man and so become a bridge of reconciliation between the two.
Man earned the penalty of death by his sin and Jesus paid this when he died on the cross. He willingly took the blame for all the wrong that Man had done. Jesus also earned the reward of eternal life by the perfect life he lived. So death could not hold him forever and three days later he rose again.
The great thing about eternal life is: it does not matter how many people you divide it between it is still eternal life. The good news is: Jesus wants to share eternal life with you. When you recieve this gift, God no longer sees the wrong you have done with your life. He only sees the right Jesus did with his.
This is a free gift and it is received by faith (putting your trust in Jesus). The Bible says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is God and you believe in your heart he was raised from the dead, then you will be saved.
Jesus said, "I have come so people can have life; life in all its fullness!".
When we turn from sin to God, he promises to give us his own Spirit, to help us to do what is right in the future. Jesus said, "My sheep know my voice". God's Spirit is alive and he speaks to our spirit. This is one way we know we will be with God when we die.
If you would like to receive forgiveness for your sins and eternal life through Jesus Christ, please pray this prayer now.
Tell others about your decision, both those who know Jesus and those who do not. We are not saved by good works, but for good works. God has a special assignment for you. However he asks everyone to share the good news about Jesus with everyone. (
Please use this presentation if it helps you).
